Oh Yeah- Gun Show!

Gun show this weekend in Marlboro, Massachusett(e)s.

Sadly, State Line Gun Shop will not be attending MA shows for the foreseeable future due to the low return for effort expended.

Face it gang, MA is a PITA.

But still, MA gunnies, go buy stuff & make Sarah Brady cry.

I'll see y'all at the Concord NH show; at least those on the NB list...

Scott Brown Wins

the U.S. Senate seat from Massachusetts.

A dream, mayhaps?

I do believe that this election may well avert some future bloodshed, as DC politicians take note of the temperament of the land.

Here’s to my hoping making it so.

Hope & Change I can believe in...

A Couple Observations

Lt. Col. Scott Brown is a state senator, running hard for the U.S. Senate, and it appears he may well be successful in that quest (no predictions here, see below).

Who was that other guy who was a local senator, served a couple years in the US Senate, then elected POTUS?

...................

The 19th day of a month seems to have some significance in Massachusetts’s history.

On an April morning 235 years ago, some Massachusetts patriots made a fairly significant statement on the 19th of that month.

It is fitting that the new beginning start there.

Nuthin’ to be Said,

& I ain’t saying it.

14 months ago, I used my astonishing powers of precognition to steadfastly maintain the obvious triumphant situation of the Republican presidential duo.

This time, the outcome is far too important to jinx with my ramblings, so I’ll just STFU.

But still,

It’s Baaaack…

Got my P238 back today. Actually, it came back Friday, but that story is below.

I have to give Sig kudos again; not only did they turn the repair around in one day, it now works perfectly. No charge for the fix (I’m not the original owner), free shipping label provided, & it was returned in a new case (I didn’t have one).

I only ran about 35 rounds through it, but after I scrounged up (most of) the empties, I noted that not one exhibited the dented mouth syndrome that was characteristic of the extraction problem.

The ammo used:
Fiocchi 95 gr. ball
Hornady Critical Defense 90 gr. FTX
Gold Dot Personal Protection 90 gr. GDHP
Winchester 95 gr. SXT
American Eagle 95 gr. ball

Extraction was a non-issue, nor were there any other failures of any kind with all brands of ammo. From a standing two-handed hold at 10 yards, I found the gun shot about 1” to the left & about ½” high to point of aim. The substantial sights are only adjustable for windage, but I can live with the ½” high. After I calculate the amount to drift the front sight, I should be good to go.

The 5 shot groups ranged from 2.1” to 4.1” with the 5 brands. Oddly, the best group, at 2.1” was the plain-jane Fiocchi ball. Go figure.

The P238 weighs in at just under a pound, fully loaded, so I’ll try to sweet talk the Mrs. into crafting a suitable pocket holster for this little beast.

I think the single thing I like best about this little pistol is that it's a shrunken 1911, my favorite service-size pistol. It's SA, can be carried cocked & locked (or hammer down on a loaded chamber), & all the controls are where they're supposed to be, albeit closer together.

I’m liking this.

It appears that this was a happy mouse gun day other places as well…

Gun Show Field Notes…

Seems that each show is more of a societal observation position than an exercise in retail.

Oh, we had a good sales weekend, & I again got the satisfaction of helping folks out with their gunny questions & guiding them toward their objective, but I gotta comment on the attendees (again).

I recognize that I’m a curmudgeon, but I saw enough metal stuck into people to make a WWI bayonet attack look like toothpicks at a garden party. Pierced ears, yeah, well, no big deal by now. Ears with what look like 1/2” washers stuck in them? Noses with sparkly spikes in them, or even better, barbed nose rings? One dude had what looked like about eight “spears” stuck through where his eyebrows ought to be, & pointy metal sticking out of his cheeks (on his face, to be clear).

And ink? There was enough ink on folks to run the friggin’ NY Times for a week.

I’ve got tats myself, but some of those viewed this weekend look like a toddler scrawling on a freshly painted wall with a crayon… I mean, what the hell are these representing?

What happened to “Mom”, "USMC", “Harley Davidson”, or even “Gina Forever”?

-----------------------

Oh, yeah, gun show.
Guns are good, m’kay?

On a less critical note, commenter Libertyman has been added to the coveted “NB” list; thanks for stopping by & chatting LM!

#$&%$*%!!

I sent my new (to me) P238 away to the factory on Monday to fix an extraction issue.
This afternoon, I had to do set up for the fun show tomorrow, & when I returned there was a tag on my door from Fed-Excrement indicating a missed delivery.
OK.
So I called F-E to have it delivered to the gun shop, & a person from ?somewhere? speaking in a language faintly resembling English, told me NFW (I know it would be a wicked gamble to deliver a gun to a gun shop, but hey).

Assponies.

So now I wait until Monday.

The good part is Sig fixed & returned it in less than a week; the suck part is, well, you already know that part.

Performance report coming Monday, I hope...

If It Wasn't for Real Bad Luck,

this dude wouldn't have had any luck at all.

Visiting Hiroshima on 6 August, 1945, he gets nuked.

Arrives back home in Nagasaki on 9 August- gets nuked again.

He should have bought lottery tickets.

Deceased at age 93, RIP Mr. Lucky.

Manchester Fun Show

It's that time again gunnies.

State Line Gun Shop (& a whole lot of other folks) will be setting up camp this weekend at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester.

This is a 300 table venue, & it usually fills right up. Show runs 0900-1700 on Saturday, & 0900-1400 on Sunday.

If you make the trek, stop by our tables & say howdy.

See you there?

Northeast Blogger Meet 'n Eat

I believe I would be neglectful not mentioning the 2010 Wintah Northeast Gunblogger Meet ‘n Eat held last evening in Machvegas, NH. Simply, a good time was had by all.

I’m too lazy to do all the linky stuff, but Jay G, Borepatch, TOTWTYTR, JD, Scotaku, Marko, et al covered the proceedings quite nicely, thankyouverymuch. They’re all right there on the sidebar, so click as you see fit.

One thing not covered in the above was the fact that that pool hall/pub was probably the safest place to be in Manchester last night. Ladies & gents were sharing/showing their small bulges; it was a warm feeling indeed.

OK, I just re-read that & all you perverts can now leave the room.

------------------

And a final thought?
Scotaku put it best, “…each time is warmer and more full of laughter.”

I think that the more we hang together, the better we’ll be able to hang together…

Weather Geekery

Do you realize that as of 2220 today, the temperature in Hot Springs Virginia was 18.7° colder than here in S. NH?

GO GLOBAL WARMING!

Happy New Year!

Yikes- that date looks weird...

Waitaminnit- isn't this the year we get the new sun & all the monkeys go crazy or something?
