Second, Third, Thoughts

A young guy I know knew swallowed a 9mm yesterday, by his own accord.
I could almost see it coming, but I did nothing, not knowing what to do.

Wish I had done something.

Sorry, man.

I'm sorry to hear that, DT, I really am.

Give a holler if you need anything (even if just to chat).

Thanks lads- Just to be clear, the subject wasn't close to me, but I used to work with him. He stopped by the house a week or so ago; just knowing someone in that situation somehow conveys a sense of responsibility.

Sorry to hear that DT, but often, there IS nothing we can do before the fact... Especially if we aren't in daily contact with the individual.

I'm so sorry, doubletrouble . . .

Sometimes, if you place the pebble just exactly right, you can derail the train before it goes off the edge into the chasm. Sometimes you can't.

Often we can almost see it coming, but only in retrospection. It's then that we get that bad feeling that we should have done something. The sad truth is that we really couldn't do anything because at the time there didn't seem to be the need to do or say anything.

It's OK to feel bad that your friend choose the path he did. Which doesn't mean that you should feel any sense of responsibility or guilt.

Be well, my friend.
