I know, to post comments with the 'captcha' on, but the spam is clogging up my inbox.
Personally, I hate it when commenting on other blogs; the 'word' is sometimes so cryptic it takes me four or five tries to get it right. Love those 'improvements'.
So, it's back on.
Sorry 'bout that.
PS- Are there any alternatives?

I have not found any alternatives to using it. As soon as I shut it off, my blog is inundated with spam comments. I too sometimes have to hit the refresh icon several times before I can read what is the secret code. It is a pain to leave a comment but I think less of one for the commenter than for the blogger should the blogger decide to go without the captcha and then get swamped with spam.
All the best,

Not that I'm aware of... Sorry... But Ill keep reading and commenting as long as my eyes and my temper holds out! :-)
It sucks. Sadly, for people using Blogger it seems to be the only option.
Carry on.
Some blogs have a captcha that is a math problem (8-7=_). Others use a word problem (What is the month after June?____). I'm assuming they work okay as the peopel have been using them for years.
All these are done in normal text, so it is easy and straighforward. HOwever, I don't know if any of them are available for use with Blogger.
