I've long thought our society is in failure mode due to the preponderance of idiots (read "voters") within.

After reading this, I think it's more like waist deep.

Then, for reinforcement of my speculation, I hear an on-the-scene citizen reporting on a fire somewhere:

"It was bad; I saw the fire emulating from the roof..."

Lordy, we in trouble...
