This is over the top.

Water flow to parts of California have been withheld because some snail darter or one-eyed newt or something of that ilk might be harmed by allowing the flow.

Thousands (millions?) of people have been economically harmed, as well as limiting the potential to grow food.

Now, it's OK, because the assholes in DC need the votes.

"The U.S. Department of Interior announced yesterday that it is increasing water allocations for the Central Valley of California, a region that depends on these water allocations to support local agriculture and jobs."
